Stopping to use a restroom on the way back to Chicago, I was fascinated by the faucet. Such an interesting shape, I just had to photograph it.

Lexington with Karen and Bryan
Despite what the previous post shows, I did have lots of human interaction during our Lexington visit.
Our fabulous hosts Karen...
...and Bryan
They brought us to our first horse track race; I enjoyed it! There was so much excitement in the air, the people-watching was fantastic (Karen and I were window shopping on the people – these women had great dresses!), the horses were beautiful, and it was a lovely day.
We stopped by a great old bridge after the race.
A cool fountain in downtown Lexington
The same fountain with a slower shutter speed. I love the lines it creates.

Euphrates in Lexington
After our brief, but action-packed visit with Heather, Michael, and Sophia, we continued east to Lexington, where Karen and Bryan were waiting up for us (sorry we arrived so late!). Their cat, Euphrates, provided hours of entertainment for us.
He seemed to enjoy playing peek-a-boo with the kitchen chairs.
Lovely morning sunlight to start the day off right
Neal captured me trying to force Euphrates to stay on my lap. About 3 seconds after this shot he tried to bite me; I deserved it.
Not a pleased kitty
Taking a play-time break to stare at me
This cat can jump! Neal describes one of his neighbor's dogs as being made of superball material, and Euphrates can fit in the same category.

A giant kitty hug
All the jumping tired the kitty out.
Euphrates has his favorite toy that he likes to cuddle with.

Louisville
I just returned from a great weekend away with Neal to visit a few friends in the great state of Kentucky. We headed down to Lexington to visit two good friends of ours, and were able to make a quick stop in Louisville on the way to visit Heather, Michael, and Sophia. They were featured on the blog a year ago when I spent last Easter with them. I only had 2 hours, so I tried for as many photos of little Sophia as possible. It's a good thing she likes the camera :)
This was from the trip down: our selection for lunch. When given a choice between Burger King and Grandma's, this seemed like the natural one.
Little Sophia greeting us
Cute little shoes
It was hard to keep her in her high chair. Running around the table and exploring electrical outlets were her preferred activities.
I'm not sure what Heather was doing here, but I was amused by the expression.
Sophia showing off her highlighter artwork on her tummy.
We started off dinner with a cool rainbow umbrella above the table.

Easter
Easter at Grandma's! I headed out there with the cousins for a lovely Easter brunch.
Violet brought her My Little Pony collection along for the ride.
Violet's fabulous tights
Poor little Seamus was cranky quite a bit from being sick, but he had his good moments too.

wedding guests
I attended a wedding last weekend (the first of four this year), and instead of taking out the camera throughout the event, I chatted with friends, met new friends, danced... I acted like a guest! It's good for me once in a while. I did take a few photos of a baby that was being passed around my table; it's hard to pass up a cute kid.
He and his brother had had enough socializing by the end of the evening.
